According to Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, Apple will now finally bring an affordable MacBook Air in the market this year. When it comes to Apple, Kuo has earned sold reputation from the geek community for providing accurate information in advance. So when 9to5 Mac got hold of Kuo’s latest investor notes on Apple, which cited this information, we can go forward believing that in all likelihood Apple will come out with a cheaper 12-inch MacBook Air.
As per Kuo, we will get to see the new MacBook Air “with a lower price tag” somewhere in the latter half of this year. If Apple does release a cheaper MacBook Air, it will up the shipments of the device by at least 10-15% this year.
Although much is not know about the upcoming MacBook Air, it would be a welcoming change as the line has remained neglected for quite some time. Apple instead of the Air line up has shifted it’s focus to MacBook and MacBook Pro.
At present, the Cupertino giant retails the 13-inch MacBook Air from $999, which if Kuo is right will get even cheaper. Although the line-up has not been in the apple of the eye for the company, it is still a preferred option among college and university going students.
Also, Kuo in his investor note informed that KGI was sure that the newly redesigned model of the AirPods would make their way into the market in the latter half of the year.
The new AirPods will allegedly have a brand new wireless chip in them and will respond to “Hey Siri” according to reports. Hopefully, it will manage to cushion some of the supply shortage of the first generation models. Also, the new AirPods will be water resistant, which begs on to question that since Apple is a design and product maverick, why wasn’t it waterproof in the first place?
