Carol Burnett and Brian Miller first met in Long Beach, California, in the 1990s. After dating for a few years, they got married in November 2001. Burnett has previously been married twice: to her college sweetheart Don Saroyan, whom she married in 1955 and divorced in 1962, and to television producer Joe Hamilton, whom she married in 1963 and divorced in 1984.
Burnett and Hamilton had three daughters together: Carrie, Jody, and Erin. Burnett has expressed that her relationship with Miller is terrific and that she feels fortunate to be with him at this time in her life. Miller is a singer and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra’s main drummer. He used to be in charge of the orchestra’s staff. He also works as a music contractor for places like the Hollywood Bowl and the Hollywood Pantages Theatre. As a music contractor, he has put together teams of musicians, conductors, and producers for things like the national tours of Hamilton and Waitress and shows with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Miller Supported Burnett After Carrie’s Death
Burnett’s oldest daughter, Carrie, passed away from lung cancer-related pneumonia just two months after Burnett and Miller’s wedding. Burnett revealed in a 2022 appearance on the Dear Multi-Hyphenate podcast that Miller encouraged her to continue with her play Hollywood Arms, which she and Carrie wrote together. The play was in previews, and Burnett said she didn’t want to get out of bed, but Miller reminded her that she owed it to Carrie and director Hal Prince to finish the play. Burnett and Miller flew to Chicago for the play’s previews, and Burnett said that while on the plane, she said a little prayer to Carrie, asking her to be with her in spirit.
