After a long and bitter divorce process, Jesse Williams and Aryn Drake-Lee have finally called it quits.
The Grey’s Anatomy actor, 39, and real estate broker, 38, were declared legally single by a Los Angeles County judge on Friday, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE. In the beginning, in September of this year, an agreement was struck.
Daughter Sadie, 6, and son Maceo, 5, will be shared equally between the ex-couples in terms of legal and physical custody. However, according to court filings, they must speak to each other before posting images of their children on social media.
William’s ex-wife has been ordered to pay him $40,000 per month in child support and more than $100,000 in two spousal support installments over the next two years.
Williams will keep his $936,810 salary from the hit ABC drama after their divorce is finalized on April 11, 2017, according to the filings, while the rest of his earnings will be divided. Drake-Lee will keep the family’s Los Angeles house, and both parties will keep their own cars.
As a New York City schoolteacher, Williams met Drake-Lee. After more than five years of dating, the couple tied the knot in September 2012. The actor filed for divorce in April of this year.
Two years after their divorce, Williams and Drake-Lee were given joint legal and physical custody of their two children. For important holidays, Williams and Drake-Lee agreed to rotate child custody between themselves.
In addition to the $50,695 per month in spousal support Williams had been paying Drake-Lee since January 2018, Williams was ordered in June 2018 to pay over $50,000 per month in child support. Later, the actor appealed the order, saying that his payments were excessive.
In an interview with PEOPLE that took place in May of 2019, Drake-Lee discussed the toll that the contentious divorce and custody battle had put on her family, namely on her children.
She stated, “When you start spinning, the children start spinning. Even if you look at them and you’re telling them everything is OK, they know it’s not wonderful because they can feel it’s not fine.” “When you start spinning, the children start spinning.”
Drake-Lee continued by saying, “I talk to them on their level.” “It is also okay for the children to see me sobbing, and it is okay for them to realize that I am having a difficult day today. Because of this, adolescents are made aware that there is space for them to express themselves while they are going through challenging times.
Williams is currently dating Taylour Paige, an actor from the show Hit The Floor. After having some time together at the Sundance Film Festival in January of 2019, they were officially linked for the first time. He was formerly romantically involved with SportsNet New York anchor Taylor Rooks, and he also dated Minka Kelly for a number of months prior to breaking up with her in January 2018.
