John Christopher Depp II born June 9, 1963, is an actor, producer, and musician from the United States. He has won many awards and nominations, including a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award, as well as three Awards Season and two British Academy Film Awards.
Why Did Johnny Depp And Amber Heard Divorce?
In a $50 million defamation lawsuit filed in March 2019, Depp is suing Heard, who is also an actor, for libel over an opinion piece Heard wrote for The Washington Post in 2018, in which she describes her experience speaking out against sexual violence. She also discussed the #MeToo movement and the lessons she learned from it.
Depp lost a libel action in London last November against The Sun’s editor after a headline in 2018 referring to him as a “wife abuser.”
“Like many other women, I had been harassed and sexually abused by the time I was of college age,” she said. But I remained silent since I didn’t expect submitting complaints to lead to injustice. I didn’t think of myself as a victim.”
“I was financially independent of him [Depp] the entire time we have been together,” Heard said in a statement dated February 26. “The entire sum of my divorce settlement was given to charity.”
While ruling in The Sun’s favor in a libel action, Judge Andrew Nichol mentioned the gesture, remarking that the “gift of the $7 million to charity is hardly the behavior one would anticipate of a gold seeker.”
As per Adam Wolanski of News Group Newspapers, she had already made “a number of payments in satisfaction of her commitments.”
In March of this year, Depp lost a plea to get the High Court ruling modified.
Peter Safran, the producer of the Aquaman sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, has replied to a petition started by Depp’s fans demanding that Heard be removed from the film.
Heard was accused of a “systematic crusade to discredit Depp in Hollywood” in the petition, which collected over a million responses.
How Much Amount Amber Heard Claimed After Divorced?
Johnny Depp has scored a rare victory in his quest to learn whether his ex-wife Amber Heard donated her $7 million (£5 million) divorce settlement as agreed.
After the pair split in 2016, the Aquaman star agreed to donate the money to the American Civil Liberties Union or Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
Depp’s lawyer Andrew Caldecott, on the other hand, claims that the promised payment was “a deliberate and manipulative falsehood” that “turned the scales against Mr. Depp from the beginning.”
He further claimed that in 2019, Depp’s business adviser received a letter from the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles informing him that Heard had not made any contributions.
A New York judge has partially approved Depp’s legal team’s motion, requiring the ACLU to reveal records confirming whether Seen carried through on her commitment.
