Rewind the romance! Before her romance with Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson kept her love life quite discreet.
Even when she was rumored to be dating From Justin to Kelly costar Justin Guarini in the early 2000s, the “Miss Independent” singer, who rose to fame after winning American Idol’s first season in 2002, hasn’t said much about her dating life before marrying Blackstock.
Clarkson didn’t disclose their relationship until 2015, when she revealed that she and the season 1 American Idol runner-up had a brief romance early in their careers.
“I think any two people that were forced together that much, you can’t fight it,” the Texas native stated at the time during an interview on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.
Guarini, for his part, denied in 2012 that the musicians had ever been romantically involved.
“There was undoubtedly a rumour,” says the narrator. He told Yahoo Music at the time, “We’ve simply always been such good buddies.” “Um, man, it was strange.” On the show, she was like my sister, and later we filmed a movie together. We had a good time, I’d say. Yeah.”
In February 2014, the Georgia native confirmed Clarkson’s account of their romance, telling Pennsylvania concertgoers that the twosome were briefly romantic while filming 2003’s From Justin to Kelly.

Clarkson’s attitude toward love, on the other hand, appeared to change after she met Blackstock, whom she married in 2013 after two years of dating. The “Piece by Piece” singer began to go up about her relationships in October 2012, telling Ryan Seacrest that she knew Reba McEntire’s former stepson was The One the instant they met.
“We were just in a room together, and then he came up and said he was from the same hometown as me, and I was like, ‘Oh, we’re definitely getting married,'” Clarkson revealed during a KIIS-FM interview, noting that Blackstock was already married when she met him. “I was definitely that chick.” I was on the lookout when he became single.”
“Once you ultimately fall in love with someone and you are so comfortable with them, it makes you more comfortable in your skin,” the Grammy winner, who has a daughter River and a son Remington with the talent manager, added. It makes you feel more at ease as an artist and more confident. I’m utterly smitten with him, and he knows it.”
The couple’s relationship, however, did not last, with Clarkson filing for divorce in June 2020.

Justin Guarini
Kelly Clarkson fuelled rumors that she was dating the show’s runner-up after winning season 1 of American Idol in 2002. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen more than a decade later, the “Stronger” singer addressed what happened between her and Guarini.
“We didn’t date during Idol, as everyone assumed,” Clarkson recalled in 2015, “but we did date during — I feel like we weren’t dating during [From Justin to Kelly], but I feel like maybe we did.” “We did date for a while.”
Graham Colton
The Voice coach romanced the musician in 2015 after his group, The Graham Colton Band, opened for Clarkson’s Breakaway and Hazel Eyes Tours. After six months of dating, the couple called it quits later that year.

In September 2021, the singer was legally proclaimed single.
