Todd and Julie Chrisley, who were the stars of the hit USA Network reality show Chrisley Know Best, have been given a total of 19 years in prison.
Todd Chrisley was given a sentence of 12 years in prison and 16 months of probation, and his wife, Julie, was given a sentence of 7 years in prison and 16 months of probation.
Their accountant, Peter Tarantino, was sentenced to three years in prison this morning after being found guilty of filing two false corporate tax returns for the Chrisleys’ company. After his hip surgery heals in May 2023, he will start serving his time.
Todd Chrisley got a lighter sentence than expected. The guidelines said he could get up to 22 years in prison, and his wife Julie Chrisley could have gotten about 12 and a half years. Both of them were found guilty in June of conspiring to defraud community banks out of more than $30 million in fraudulent loans and a number of tax crimes, including conspiracy to defraud the IRS and tax evasion.
Federal prosecutors said that the famous couple, whose show was picked up by USA Network in 2013 and made them famous, changed their financial records to make it look like they were richer than they really were so they could get loans for more than $30 million.
But the fact that their many unscripted shows are no longer on the air may be even worse for the two, who used to be the stars of a popular USA Network show.
Even though NBCUniversal hasn’t said anything officially, Deadline has heard that the nine-season show Chrisley Knows Best, which mostly followed real estate “tycoon” Todd Chrisley, his wife Julie, and their family, has been canceled, as has the spin-off Growing Up Chrisley, which followed Chase and Savannah as they grow up away from Todd and Julie.
