According to the long-time royal author Andrew Morton, Meghan Markle apparently didn’t know Oprah Winfrey very well when she invited her to her extravagant royal wedding in May 2018. However, that social connection has helped her because she and Prince Harry soon started planning a life outside of the royal family.
Finally, Meghan and Harry sat down with the talk-show queen for their infamous tell-all interview in March 2021, during which they brilliantly airballed their complaints about the royal family and accused one member of being racist. The source said that the attractive pair drove five minutes to visit Winfrey’s $100 million estates from their Montecito home over the weekend, suggesting that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently preparing for another tell-all interview.
Prince Harry And Megan Markle Were Seen Leaving Oprah’s House Over The Weekend
The Sussexes are seen arriving at Oprah Winfrey’s estate in a “convoy of cars,” which includes a Range Rover, according to pictures released by the source. The insider added that the Sussexes visited Winfrey’s house for nearly an hour. Maybe they’re discussing another professional partnership with the media magnate, or maybe it was just a casual call.
According to Morton in the most recent episode of the Daily Mirror’s “Pod Save the Queen” podcast, this collaboration began at least six months after Meghan and Harry’s May 2018 wedding, when Harry secretly met with Winfrey in a London hotel to begin talking about a future that didn’t include them being senior citizens.
In addition, “Harry was having the chats in a London hotel back during November 2018 just 6 months after they had been married,” claimed Morton, author of the bestselling biography of Princess Diana published in 1993, “Diana: Her True Story,” as well as a book about Queen Elizabeth II that is soon to be published.
Harry made the decision to join Winfrey in launching “The Me You Can’t See,” an upcoming 2021 series on mental health for Apple TV+, while he was still a functional royal. Along with sitting down with Winfrey admirably, he and Meghan also contributed to the split between the couple and Harry’s father, Prince Charles, and Harry’s brother, Prince William.

The Sussexes didn’t distinguish between Oprah Winfrey, George and Amal Clooney, and some of their other A-list guests, according to Brown’s account in “The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor, the Truth, and the Turmoil,” yet they still invited them. Brown noted that the famous visitors “were an interpretation not of Meghan’s warm group but of the folks she most desired to lure” into her inner circle.
What Were Meghan And Harry Doing At Oprah’s House?
In the meantime, questions about whether the pair genuinely tried for roughly two years to make royal life work may be raised by Morton’s remarks regarding Harry’s 2018 encounter with Winfrey. When they both acknowledged during a TV interview with friend and journalist Tom Bradby that they had been challenged by the compression that came with being full-time representatives of the monarchy, it is clear that a departure was on their minds sometime before their October 2019 tour of South Africa.
It is odd, according to Morton, that they are making this move because it seemed like the queen had appointed Harry and Meghan to hold very authoritative positions inside the monarchy and represent the royal family abroad.
In a related interview, Morton claimed that Harry viewed the union with the American ex-TV actress as his exit strategy from the royal family.
The couple had discussed taking a vacation in New Zealand with the Prime Minister of that country, according to Morton. When it comes down to it, Prince Harry is charming but despises being a prince, and I believe he saw Meghan Markle as a man, thus it didn’t work out. They weren’t required to leave the royal family in the way that they did, but they did.”
Harry and Meghan announced shortly after their trip of South Africa that they would abdicate their royal duties for the 2019 Christmas holiday, which they spent with their son, Archie, in a beachfront property on Vancouver Island.
According to the sympathetic history of the pair, “Finding Freedom,” they gave up public support for their positions and undoubtedly quit their jobs as senior royals at this point, according to Vanity Fair.
The queen insisted that Harry and Meghan could not prepare partially inside and partially outside of the palace. Harry and Meghan successfully left for North America without receiving any assistance or funds for their expensive security.
