“As a result of this, and after much deliberation, Bruce has decided to retire from the profession that has meant so much to him,” the statement continued.
His relatives have been battling with the diagnosis, according to the message, which also mentioned his father “This is a very difficult moment for our family, and we are very grateful for your continuous love, sympathy, and support. Thank you for everything you have done for us. We are going through this together as a strong family unit, and we wanted to invite his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him, and we wanted to thank them for their support.”
What Is Aphasia?
According to the Mayo Clinic, aphasia is a speech impediment, “a medical disorder that causes you to lose your ability to communicate. It has the potential to impair your capacity to communicate, write, and understand words in both spoken and written form.”
Aphasia is caused by a variety of factors “suddenly following a stroke or a traumatic brain injury. This condition may develop gradually as a result of a slowly growing brain tumor or an illness that causes progressive, permanent damage (degenerative disease) to the brain.” Bruce’s family did not provide any additional information on what caused his aphasia illness.
More Details On What Causes Aphasia?
Aphasia is caused by damage to one or more areas of the brain that deal with language, according to the National Institutes of Health.
According to Dr. Adam Boxer, a professor of neurology at the University of California, San Francisco, aphasia commonly happens after a head injury or stroke, which shuts off blood flow to parts of the brain important for speaking.
Aphasia can also develop gradually as a result of the progression of a brain tumor, a neurological condition, or an infection, according to Boxer.
