Is Jodie Burrage Dating Ben White?
Jodie Burrage credits her good spending time in Cornwall with her Leicester Tigers scrum-half boyfriend Ben White during the lockdown.
She tells me how they met and how they became friends. She liked a photo of Ben on Instagram, and the two quickly became friends. After suffering a concussion during a game a few weeks later, White was required to see a doctor in London. It was the ideal time for their first date. “Now that I think about it, he still was concussed at the time… so I kind of feel guilty about that now,”
The couple had been dating for nearly a year, spending 10 weeks of that time together in Cornwall during the lockdown. Burrage says the incident was “strange.”
Burrage stated, “I’ve actually seen him a lot in the previous four or five months.” “It undoubtedly helps that he comes from a sporting family and knows what it’s like. I think he wouldn’t understand what it’s like to have your activity taken away from you and not be able to participate if he didn’t come from a sporty background, so he was very supportive.
“We kind of bounced off each other and helped each other through those months since he was going through the same thing (injury) at the same time. He’s a very motivated, upbeat, and encouraging individual. I get down on myself from time to time, so having him there and having him be so optimistic for me is quite beneficial.”
“It was actually a lot of fun spending time with him. There were no disagreements, which was a pleasant surprise. We put forth a lot of effort in terms of training, and it paid off handsomely, to be honest.”
White has impressed the British No 7 on a few occasions at Welford Road, and she is eager to watch him in action once stadium limitations are lifted.
Burrage made her WTA Tour main-draw debut in doubles at the 2020 Linz Open, when she partnered with Sabine Lisicki and received a wildcard into the doubles tournament.
She made her WTA Tour main-draw debut in singles at the Abu Dhabi Open in January 2021 as a lucky loser. After being handed a wildcard to the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, she made her main-draw Grand Slam debut in June.

“I’ve really tried to focus on the physical and mental components in the last six months to a year, and being able to visit my fitness coach has really helped me in the matches that I’ve played. I like the mental aspect of it as well; I’ve been working with one of the LTA guys since lockdown and he’s been quite helpful. I’m witnessing the results of our efforts in matches “Burrage, who was chatting through Zoom after completing another day’s training, added.
Burrage, the world No. 289, has had a busy few months, playing 19 matches in 17 days at the Progress Tour Women’s Championships.
“Looking back on it, I can’t believe I went through it without getting hurt,” she remarked, “having obviously struggled with them before.” “After being absent for four or five months due to COVID, those three weeks had been fantastic.”
