Shayne Thomas Ward is an English actor and singer who was born on October 16, 1984. From 2015 to 2018 and 2021, he was most recognized for his role as Aidan Connor in Coronation Street. He became famous after winning the second season of The X Factor. “That’s My Goal,” his debut single, was released in the United Kingdom on December 21, 2005, and hit number one on the UK Singles Chart, as well as becoming the Christmas number one that year. It came as a shock to the new parents, who had been told by physicians that they were expecting a second daughter, a sister for Willow, who is five years old.
Shayne took to Instagram on Thursday to share the happy news, admitting that it was a shock to learn that Sophie had given birth to a baby boy, but that they were ‘overjoyed.’
‘We had a HUGE surprise!’ the former Coronation Street star said, revealing his first baby was born on Saturday, June 11.
‘We weren’t expecting a baby girl, but instead a lovely baby boy.’ ‘We are ecstatic and grateful that sir baby Ward has come,’ he continued.
Shayne also shared a beautiful snapshot of the family of four, with their hands all stacked on top of each other, with the newborns on top.
Friends, fans, and relatives congratulated the pair, with Julia Goulding of Coronation Street writing: ‘Wow!! ‘Congratulations, how amazing. I send you all my love.’

They met in 2016 and became parents later that year with the birth of their firstborn Willow, shortly after which they were engaged.
Ward was cast in a one-year contract on Coronation Street as Aidan Connor, a “distant cousin of Michelle who grew up on the same estate as her and knicker boss Carla Connor,” by ITV on May 12, 2015. In August of 2015, he made his on-screen debut.
He won the 2016 National Television Award and 2016 Inside Soap Award, both for Best Newcomer and for his portrayal. Due to the character’s popularity, his contract was renewed the next year, and he stayed in the role for another two years.
Following his departure from the show, he was cast as the lead in the psychological drama Stairs. On October 22, 2021, he made a voiceover cameo following the death of his on-screen father, Johnny Connor.
