Todd Downing is the offensive coordinator for the National Football League’s Tennessee Titans. On July 22, 1980, he was born. Todd has helped the Minnesota Vikings, the Buffalo Bills, the Detroit Lions, and the St. Louis Rams as an assistant coach. He was also in charge of the Oakland Raiders offense.
A few hours after their win over the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night, Todd Downing was arrested for driving under the influence. He was caught by the Tennessee Highway Patrol early on Friday morning.
The offensive coordinator got tickets for driving under the influence and speeding, and at exactly 4:30 a.m., he was taken to the Williamson County jail. Around 7 a.m. on Friday, Downing was let out of jail.

The police report says that Downing was pulled over because his car was going faster than usual. Also, people say that Downing’s car smelled like alcohol. The Titans’ team plane left Green Bay just after midnight Central Time and got back to Nashville at 2:00 am. The Tennessee Highway Patrol stopped Downing at about 2:30 in the morning.

Downing’s first coaching job was with the 9th grade B team at Eden Prairie High School. He was in charge of the offense. In 2000, his high school team, the Eagles, won the Class 5A state title by beating Matt Birk’s Cretin Durham Hall Raiders.
In 2001, Chad Ostlund gave him an internship with the Minnesota Vikings in Research and Development. Then, in 2002, he was an intern in public relations. From 2003 to 2004, he was a football systems analyst, and in 2005, he was an offensive quality control coach.

Downing was hired by the St. Louis Rams in 2006 as a defensive assistant and special teams assistant coach.
Downing became an offensive quality control coach for the Detroit Lions with Scott Linehan in 2009. He was the assistant quarterback coach in 2010. He coached the quarterback from 2011 to 2013.
Downing was the Buffalo Bills’ quarterback coach in 2014. In 2015, the Oakland Raiders hired Downing to be their quarterback coach, working under head coach Jack Del Rio. Downing, head coach Jack Del Rio, and the rest of Del Rio’s staff were all fired on January 1, 2018. This is because the offense went from being 12–4 to be 6–10, which is a big drop.
On January 29, 2021, Downing was put in charge of the offense. Arthur Smith left to become the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. He took Smith’s place.
