After spending two years in the United Kingdom, Zari Hassan returned to Uganda and later relocated to South Africa where she met and married Ivan Semwanga, with whom she had three children. However, the couple divorced in 2013 following accusations of physical abuse by Hassan against Semwanga. In 2017, Semwanga suffered a massive stroke and was hospitalized at Steve Biko Academic Hospital, where he passed away on May 25 of that year.
Following Semwanga’s funeral in Uganda, Hassan returned to South Africa to oversee her businesses and some of her late husband’s ventures. She also has two children with Tanzanian artist Diamond Platnumz.
