The Regency-era romance drama series “Bridgerton” was an instant hit with fans when it launched its first season on Netflix in December of 2020. Season 1 follows Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) as she meets and falls in love with the Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page) — a man who had previously declared he would never marry.
Season 2 follows Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) as she meets and falls in love with the Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page) (via IMDb). It’s no surprise that Netflix is moving forward with Season 2 after the show’s huge popularity.
Bridgerton Season 3
Season 2 focuses on Daphne’s older brother — and the eldest Bridgerton — Anthony’s love story (Jonathan Bailey). Anthony is desperate to find a decent wife who is intellectual and accomplished, but not in love with him, after his disastrous affair with opera diva Siena Rosso (Sabrina Bartlett) in Season 1. He sets his sights on Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran), proclaiming her to be the ideal wife candidate — only to fall in love with Edwina’s sister Kate (Simone Ashley).
“Bridgerton” has been renewed for not only it’s third but also its fourth season, much to the delight of the show’s many fans (via Deadline). Fans are already wondering about the next season of the beloved series and want to know everything there is to know about the next Bridgerton love story now that Season 2 has been released for a few weeks. Season 3 is currently unknown. Here’s what we know thus far.
The love story of Benedict will most likely be the focus of Season 3 of Bridgerton.
Season 3 will focus on the love story of Benedict (Luke Thompson), the second eldest Bridgerton sibling, who falls in love with a servant named Sophie Beckett in the third book, “An Offer from a Gentleman,” if “Bridgerton” continues to follow the novels’ trajectory.
Season 3 will almost certainly continue the storylines from Season 2, such as Anthony Bridgerton’s and Kate Sharma’s marriage. Jonathan Bailey discussed the couple’s future plans with The Hollywood Reporter, saying: “There will be complications [in the future].
They aren’t straightforward individuals. I know they’ll work well together, and I know he’ll devote himself entirely to her, so I’m looking forward to seeing and learning more about them… The slow burn’s payout, I believe, will last for many years.”
Edwina, played by Charithra Chandran, hasn’t been confirmed to return, but Chandran wants to see “excitement and adventure” in future seasons for her character (per THR). Meanwhile, Season 3 will focus on Eloise’s (Claudia Jessie) reaction to learning that her best friend Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) is Lady Whistledown, the mystery gossip columnist. According to THR’s interview with Coughland, “I believe she’s hit rock bottom… Whistledown is all she’s got. I’m sure it’ll be fascinating to see how she begins Season 3.”
