Chicago P.D. Season 10 - Release Date, Cast, and Plot

As “Chicago P.D.” enters its ninth season, many viewers appear to be invested in NBC’s long-running cop drama. One of Season 9’s biggest strengths, according to many fans, is that it is more suspense-heavy than previous seasons. Similarly, Patrick John Flueger, who plays Adam Ruzek on “Chicago P.D.,” garnered a lot of appreciation from the “Chicago P.D.” fandom during Season 9 for how he exhibited his acting abilities in this newest batch of episodes.

During an Episode 14 narrative in which Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) must investigate a pair of gory murder scenes in order to hunt down a serial killer, Season 9 pushed the envelope in a completely new way. The brutality in these scenes is out of character for the show, and maybe too much for some viewers.

As the ninth season of “Chicago P.D.” draws to a close, many fans will be wondering if new episodes have been confirmed. Here’s what we know so far about Season 10 of “Chicago P.D.”

Chicago P.D. will be renewed for a tenth season, according to NBC.

While NBC has yet to provide any specific details about a 10th season of “Chicago P.D.,” the show’s return is almost certain barring any unexpected alterations. This is due to an agreement NBC announced in February 2020 with Dick Wolf. Because of Wolf’s success with the network, they opted to sign a five-year deal with him, which will include future episodes of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” as well as the three flagships “One Chicago” shows: “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago Med,” and “Chicago P.D.” At the time of the announcement, each “One Chicago” show had been picked up for three seasons.

“Chicago P.D.” seasons 8 and 9 accounts for the first two of the three verified seasons. Season 10 is thus still bound by the terms of Wolf’s contract, implying that the show’s return after Season 9 is practically a done thing.

Furthermore, assuming Season 10 ends in 2023, Wolf’s contract should still cover two more years with NBC. More seasons are likely to come if “Chicago P.D.” maintains its present level of success. For now, viewers will have to wait until the end of Season 9 to learn more about the impending “Chicago P.D.” Season 10.
