Miraculous Ladybug: Superheroes, Secrets, And A Formidable Foe
The story is set in modern-day Paris and centers on the adventures of two teenagers, Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste. In times of peril, they undergo a transformation, becoming the superheroes Ladybug and Cat Noir, using magical jewels called Miraculouses.
These jewels are powered by small cosmic beings known as Kwamis, with Marinette’s being named Tikki and Adrien’s being named Plagg.
Amid their superhero duties, Marinette and Adrien grapple with their feelings for one another, unaware of each other’s secret identities. Marinette is smitten with Adrien but not Cat Noir, while Adrien carries a torch for Ladybug but remains oblivious to Marinette’s true identity.

Hawk Moth wields the Butterfly Miraculous to create akumas—butterflies infused with negative energy—which, when released, “akumatize” ordinary citizens of Paris, transforming them into supervillains when they experience negative emotions.
