The puzzle is still unsolved! Nancy Drew fans were surprised when season 3 of The CW’s Nancy Drew threw a star-crossed twist into the primary character’s relationship with Ace.
Nancy Drew (Kennedy McMann) thought she was finally dating Ace (Alex Saxon) in the season finale, which aired in January until a fatal automobile accident revealed it was all a fabrication concocted by Temperance. Temperance (Olivia Taylor Dudley) cursed Nancy and Ace when she died.
The writing team of Noga Landau and Melinda Hsu Taylor indicated in an interview with executive producers Noga Landau and Melinda Hsu Taylor that Ace’s destiny will be revealed soon.
“We’ll undoubtedly pick up with Ace wondering why Nancy bolted from his flat. If and when we start season 4, his inquiry to her will be, “Are you in trouble?” ‘How come Nancy bolted from my flat just as I was about to kiss her?’ “I’m sure she’s in trouble,” Taylor told Entertainment Weekly in January, two months before the show was renewed.
According to Landau, the forthcoming season will focus on Nancy and Ace’s emotions as they escalate. “For both of them, Season 4 is going to be a season of deep desire,” she continued. “For sure, it’s just going to get worse.” This drama has always been about the simmering love and longing — for a variety of people, but mainly for Nancy, and now for Nancy and Ace together.”
Nancy will not instantly search for a way out of her dilemma, even if there is a means to break the curse.
“I believe the main issue is that she knows Temperance’s magic is clever, and Temperance has probably built in a number of fail-safes so she doesn’t try to erase the curse after this season.” And that’s part of the puzzle, which she’ll most likely try to solve at some point,” Landau told EW. “We have no way of knowing whether she will succeed or not.” But, yes, she will.”
“She’s not sure whether she can tell him she loves him,” continued the showrunner. She’s not sure she’ll be able to inform him about the curse without setting it off. So, if she’s ever going to consider reversing anything, she needs to understand the rules.”
Season 4 will also make an attempt to reconnect to the show’s roots, according to Landau and Taylor.
“Putting Nancy back in a graveyard with her beanie and her flashlight, and the beginning of a new mystery that should feel a little bit more like the mysteries we explored in season 1 and season 2 — for a bit of a palate cleanser,” Landau said of the season 3 cliffhanger to Entertainment Weekly. “As for the graves and the mystery, we’ll absolutely say that there’s a strand of connection between some of the events you see in the finale and why those graves are the way they are in the end,” says the cast.
When Will It Be Shown On TV?
In March 2022, the show was renewed for season 4. McMann confirmed in her Instagram comments area a month later that the cast will begin filming in July.
Taylor told TVLine that season 4 will be the start of a new era. She claimed shortly after the season 3 finale aired in January that “we’d be able to welcome new fans in a way where you wouldn’t have to have seen the prior three seasons.” “Checking them out on HBO Max would be beneficial, but you wouldn’t have to in order to join the fold.”
What’s Next for the Drews?
Season 3 finished with the main friend group splitting up to find out about their adult lives. The goal, according to Taylor, is for everyone to rejoin as they embark on new endeavors.
“They’ll undoubtedly reunite again. For sure. We now have a mix of law enforcement personnel. Bess (Maddison Jaizani) has the mystical thing handled, which is officially a community leader with a lot of ties to the town, and George (Leah Lewis) is going to be studying law, and Ace works at a mortuary “EW was made aware by Taylor.
She went on to say, ” “Teamwork is encouraged. I’m looking forward to seeing how the buddy group reunites in a bit more mature form. It’s not that the previous situation was horrible, but friendships grow as people gain more life experience.”
Nancy’s Curse: What Will She Do?
Taylor talked about how Nancy’s decision will “pound heavily” on her mind after breaking up a future with Ace due to Temperance’s curse.
“Her emotional reaction to being held accountable for Ace’s death in a vehicle accident was intense. That’ll be a major deterrent if she even considers giving him a glance she wouldn’t offer a platonic buddy “EW learned from the producer. “Nancy’s thinking is so regimented that she will teach herself not to tell him how she feels, which will just add to his suspicions that something is wrong because he knows Nancy wouldn’t kiss him one day and treat him like a stranger the next. It’ll have a profound impact on her thoughts and deeds.”
