“Stargirl” on The CW successfully blends conventional teen drama with superheroics, and its highly imaginative characters and surprisingly creepy antagonists make for intriguing viewing. Throughout the first two seasons of the show, Courtney “Stargirl” Wilmore and her different superpowered allies and enemies struggle with their parents’ legacy and battle various threats (and, on occasion, each other).
Stargirl’s new form of the Justice Society of America faces off against the old Injustice Society of America and some of its progeny in the first season of the program. Season 2 causes a number of characters from both sides of the hero-villain divide to join forces against Eclipso, the villainous Eclipso (Nick Tarabay).
Fans will certainly doubt be interested to see how the plot progresses, especially as it appears that some of the JSA’s threats now dwell so close to the heroes that they are actually next door. Furthermore, the second season of “Stargirl” left many unsolved questions for viewers. So, when can we anticipate the tale to pick up again? Here’s all we know about Season 3 of “Stargirl” so far.
DC’s Stargirl Season 3 Teaser
When does Stargirl Season 3 come out?
Fans of “Stargirl” won’t have to wait in anticipation for word of the show’s possible renewal or cancellation. Season 3 was ordered by The CW in May 2021. (via Entertainment Weekly). This means that the show was renewed ahead of the Season 2 launch, which could indicate that the trend will continue. Who knows? Season 4 news could arrive in the spring of 2022.
Season 3 of “Stargirl” is yet to be announced, so stay tuned. However, if the production cycle is comparable to past seasons, an informed guess can be made. Since the first episode of “Stargirl,” Season 1 was released in May 2020 and the first episode of Season 2 was aired in August 2021, it appears that Season 3 will premiere in the late summer or fall of 2022.
Who’s in the Stargirl Season 3 cast?
Brec Bassinger will reprise his role as Stargirl in Season 3 of “Stargirl,” as expected, while Luke Wilson will reprise his role as Pat Dugan. Almost all of their significant Blue Valley-based friends and foes will also return in some manner. The most significant changes, then, are in the amount of time you’ll see particular characters.
According to Deadline, Crusher Crock and Paula Brooks — aka Sportsmaster and Tigress — will play major roles in Season 3, with Neil Hopkins and Joy Osmanski becoming series regulars. Starman actor Joel McHale will join them, as he announced on an October 2021 episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” (via Deadline) that he will be a regular as well.
You can expect at least one new big character to join the show, based on his quick appearance in the Season 2 finale: the renowned Keith David will voice the apparently malevolent Mister Bones in the Season 2 finale, and will almost probably play a significant role in Season 3.
What is Stargirl Season 3’s plot?
The new iteration of the JSA is able to rise above the faults of the previous generation, as the young team handles the Eclipso crisis in a far more effective and less homicidal manner than the original squad. Furthermore, in order to battle the terrifying thing, the squad joins forces with a number of the supervillains they’ve faced thus far.
On the surface, it appears that many character interactions will evolve in Season 3, especially when a slew of villains chose to stay in Blue Valley for their own reasons. Given that the season’s teaser (via TV Promos) shows that it will be titled “Stargirl: Frenemies,” this will undoubtedly be a prominent subject.
Whether they’re foes or not, the fact that Blue Valley now possesses more metahuman firepower than ever is probably just as well, given that the stinger of Season 2’s finale sets up the potential villains of Season 3: The Helix Institute and its apparent commander, Mister Bones. This powerful character is a metahuman whose invisible flesh is fatal to the touch in the comics.
While it’s unclear whether this will be the case with the “Stargirl” version of the character, the final moments of Season 3 suggest that the many superpowered people in Blue Valley have piqued Bones’ curiosity, and he’ll most certainly play a key role in Season 3.
