This week on The Flash, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) went all out to “rescue” her late husband Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell) from the “black flame” that had caught him in a schmience-y limbo.
After Team Flash modified that plastic-looking cold fusion sphere for the hundredth time, someone resembling Ronnie emerged from the Black Flame. To Caitlin later that night, “Ronnie” revealed that he is not some sort of resurrection of the guy she once loved (who remains very much dead), but rather… Deathstorm. Burning skull and gothic supersuit According to Robbie Amell of TVLine, “It’s fairly messed up that [Caitlin] eventually gets her spouse back after so many seasons.” “It’s great joy for me to be the evil guy and torture Team Flash,” he said. But it’s a shame for Caitlin.”
As you can see, Amell is excited to go evil for this arc, but that was not the only reason he agreed to return.
“Would I have returned as Ronnie? Sure, he says. “The pitch was basically, ‘This is the final season and we’d love to have you back.’ “It’s always been depending on availability, and we’ve been unlucky in the past.” (Amell has been busy with a starring role in Prime Video’s Upload.) “But it worked out perfectly, so I was like, ‘Yeah, 100%.’ Sure.
Yes, they’re doing another season, which I think is amazing, but it was cool to return and have a bit of gravitas to my character,” Amell continued. But I would have joined in if it was just the flashbacks.”
Being terrible meant Amell got to work with the series’ star Grant Gustin as Deathstorm (rather than merely in flashbacks with Caitlin).
“It’s good to have some sequences with Grant again,” Amell said. My Deathstorm work is mostly computer graphics and ADR booth work, but it was fantastic to be on set with him and then meet the cast.
Sadly, Deathstorm does not share this sentiment and will instead be foraging for his (gulp!) next meal.
“This beast thrives on suffering, and it’s time to eat!” Amell jokes. “He needs to become stronger, so he’ll go find sorrow and anguish to feed on.”
On April 13, 2022, The Flash will return with a new episode. The show is getting ready to branch out into a new genre, and it will also feature the return of a familiar figure from the past who is connected to The Black Flame‘s latest case.
After a shocking twist at the end of the previous week’s episode, the forthcoming episode, titled Resurrection, will delve more into the Black Flame mystery. The preview for the upcoming episode also hinted at the return of Robbie Amell, who hasn’t been seen on the show since his brief appearance in the early days.
After last week’s cliffhanger, the preview for this week’s episode suggests one of the most exciting weeks in the Arrowverse. The Black Flame entity’s voice seemed to belong to Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell), Firestorm and Caitlin Snow’s (Danielle Panabaker) deceased spouse.
Caitilin will try to handle the problem alone due to her past ties, with mixed results. This new season seems darker than the last, probably due to new topics like the supernatural.
Despite the threat, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Chester (Brandon McKnight) have found a solution. Maybe, if Caitlin doesn’t harm them all, Barry can avoid disaster.
The title Resurrection may refer to Ronnie’s comeback, which was rumoured before the eighth season of Flash began.
This episode was directed by Emily Palizzi and written by Greg Beeman.
