The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs (also known as Mobuseka for convenience) is a Shounen Isekai Light Novel series (and Manga adaptation) about a Japanese salaryman who died of exhaustion after being blackmailed into playing an Otome Game for two days straight by his obnoxious younger sister.
At the age of five, he regains his memories and resolves to live a quiet life away from the game’s plot as Leon Fou Bartfort, a mob (background Non-Player Character) from a low-ranking noble family.
In the meantime, Leon makes the seemingly trivial decision to assist said heroine, Olivia, the academy’s only commoner. Leon takes out his fury on Marie and her Reverse Harem after being treated unfairly by the other nobles and witnessing the game’s purported villain, Angelica Redgrave, being tortured and falsely charged, causing the game plot to go entirely off the rails.
As a result, Leon and his companions must stop the game’s Final Boss from destroying the Kingdom.
Following a fan poll, the author of the novel published a six-part spinoff within the pages of the subsequent novels: Side Story on Marie Route If Leon had prevented Marie’s plans before they started, this would have been a What If? story. The two focus on developing their otome game world lives together in an Alternate Timeline, leaving their main tale Love Interests to their own devices, which has dire consequences…

A collection of short stories about Leon meeting Distaff Counterparts of individuals after taking sleep medication tampered with by the Covert Pervert A.I. Cleare is also included.
Under the title Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs, Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed the novels and manga adaptation.

An anime adaptation was confirmed for release in April 2022, and it debuted on April 3 of that year. Crunchyroll has it right now outside of Japan.
Shousetsuka ni Narou hosts the original web novel in Japanese.
The Marie Route and Dream side narrative tropes should be placed below the main one in their respective places.
