Thor 4 is on its way! Thor: Love & Thunder, starring Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder, will be released in theatres on July 8, 2022. On April 18, Marvel unveiled the first official teaser for the Taika Waititi-directed superhero flick, which shows Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster transforming into the Mighty Thor and brandishing Mjolnir, the mythical hammer.

After a COVID-19 delay in Sydney, Australia, principal photography for Thor: Love & Thunder began in January 2021. Filming was completed in June of 2021. When the filming was finished, Taika wrote on Instagram that it was the “craziest thing I’ve ever done” and that she was “proud to bust my ass and have a nervous breakdown so you all can witness it.” Chris also used Instagram to announce the end of filming. “It’s going to be batsh*t insane off the wall funny, with a heartstring or two pulled.”

There’s a lot of love and a lot of thunder! Thank you to the entire cast and crew for another fantastic Marvel adventure. “Brace yourselves, get ready, and we’ll see you in the theatres!!” he wrote.

Taika has previously revealed several story information for the film, including Natalie’s first appearance as the Mighty Thor. “That plot is wonderful,” Taika remarked at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. “It’s full of emotion, love, and thunder, and it introduces for the first time a female Thor.” In Thor: Love & Thunder, he also teases a lot of romance. “From the start, I wanted to know: ‘What are people expecting the least from this franchise?'” Oh, yes — a full-fledged love story!” Wired spoke with Taika.

Tessa Thompson‘s Valkyrie will return alongside Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, with one possible plot centred on her search for a Queen to assist rule Asgard.

On the other hand, when Marvel unveiled Love and Thunder at Comicon in 2019, Taiki Waititi confirmed Portman’s character is returning as the female Thor, wielding Mjolnir.
