Who Killed Sara Season 2 - What We Know So Far

In a few words, a TV show’s name can sometimes sum up its popularity. The Office, for example, is based on working circumstances that are recognizable to almost everybody who has ever worked at a desk. Then there’s Who Killed Sara?, a gritty crime thriller from Netflix that, like Who Killed Sara?, puts up the basic bones of its story in a short title that gets directly to the point — a plot that focuses on the mystery of who killed a woman named (of course) Sara.

Netflix’s Who Killed Sara? was an instant success. According to The Huffington Post, once all 10 episodes were uploaded on March 24, 2021, it quickly rose to the top of the streaming platform’s most popular TV series list.

Around the same time, Netflix released the second season of Who Killed Sara? (via Deadline). Here’s what fans should expect as the second season approaches.

When will season 2 of Who Killed Sara be available?

Not only has Netflix announced that Who Killed Sara? will return for a second season, but it has also revealed a release date for season 2 that is shockingly near to season 1’s debut date in March 2021: season 2 is set to premiere on May 19th, just a few months after season 1’s premiere.

Given such a short turnaround, it’s significantly more plausible that season two was already filmed prior to the publication of season one. Season 2 was almost certainly a foregone conclusion, regardless of the show’s current popularity. Nonetheless, the fact that Who Killed Sara? continues to be a hit may help the show survive through its second season.

Who Killed Sara Season 2 - What We Know So Far

Who will play Sara in season two of Who Killed Sara?

Despite the fact that the cast of Who Killed Sara? season 2 has yet to be announced, each of the main characters from season 1 is almost certain to return, given the cliffhanger conclusion of the first season and the fact that both seasons were apparently shot at the same time.

Alex Guzman was played by Manolo Cardona in season one of Who Killed Sara? As of the end of the first season, his inquiry into the murder of his sister Sara is still underway, therefore his prominent role in season 2 should continue. In flashbacks to the time before her death, Ximena Lamadrid plays Sara.

Alejandro Nones as Sara’s ex-boyfriend Rodolfo, Ginés Garca Millán as his father Don César, Claudia Ramrez as his mother Mariana, Carolina Miranda as his sister Elisa, Eugenio Siller as his brother José Mara, and Juan Carlos Remolina as Don César’s work colleague Sergio round out the group.

What is the plot of the second season of Who Killed Sara?

Alex had served an 18-year prison sentence for the murder of his sister Sara at the start of Who Killed Sara? At the moment of Sara’s murder, Alex was obliged to bear responsibility for her then-boyfriend Rodolfo and the rest of the Lazcano family. The Lazcanos are a wealthy and influential family, led by patriarch Don César. They framed Alex in order to avoid the repercussions of a quasi-family member’s death. Following his release from prison, Alex continues looking for Sara’s murderer.

Who Killed Sara Season 2 - What We Know So Far

By the end of the first season, viewers have a better idea of what happened on Sara’s dying day, but the series’ titular question remains unresolved. As a result, a large portion of Season 2 will most likely be devoted to finally catching Sara’s killer. Fortunately for Alex, members of the Lazcano family are gradually turning against Don Cesar, who may or may not have killed Sara himself, but most definitely played a role in the crime.

Sara’s hidden diary, which reveals some of her inner traumas previously unknown to her family, and the discovery of a second, unidentified dead body in their family’s backyard are the two biggest surprises revealed in the Who Killed Sara? season 1 finale. These are some of Alex’s most promising leads in his search for his sister’s killer, and season 2 will undoubtedly bring additional twists to the story.
