Jada Pinkett Smith’s Net Worth – $50 Million
Jada Pinkett Smith is a $50 million dollar American actress, producer, director, singer, author, and entrepreneur. Though it should be remembered that Jada’s net worth is mostly derived from her marriage to Will Smith, who is one of the highest-paid performers of the previous two decades. Jada Pinkett Smith has amassed a substantial net worth from her work in movies, television, music, fashion, and as a children’s book author.
She was born on September 18, 1971, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Adrienne Bandfield-Jones, a nurse, and Rosbol Pinkett Jr, a construction business owner. Adrienne gave birth to Jada while still in high school, and the pair married shortly after, allowing Adrienne to raise Jada alone with the assistance of her mother, Marion Martin Banfield. Jada’s grandma soon saw her granddaughter’s talent for the stage and enrolled her in piano and dance courses.
She majored in dance and theatrical performance at the Baltimore School for the Arts. Jada received her diploma in 1989. Tupac Shakur, the future rap legend, was one of Jada’s classmates at this school. Until his sad demise, the two would become lifelong friends.
Jada began landing tiny parts in television dramas including “True Colors,” “Doogie Howser MD,” and “21 Jump Street” after coming to Los Angeles in the early 1990s. She was cast in a recurring role in the comedy “A Different World” for 36 episodes. “Menace II Society,” released in 1993, was her big break.
In 1994, she co-starred in “A Low Down Dirty Shame” alongside Keenen Ivory Wayans, and her performance garnered a lot of attention and excellent reviews. In the same year, she participated in the romantic drama “Jason’s Lyrics,” and in 1995, she starred in Demon Knight as a prisoner. The connection between Pinkett Smith and her co-star Allen Payne was complimented by Roger Ebert.
Jada’s big break came in 1996 when she co-starred in the adaptation of “The Nutty Professor” alongside Eddie Murphy, in which she played his love interest. The picture grossed $25 million in its first weekend and went on to gross over $274 million worldwide, making it a tremendous commercial success.
Jada’s career was launched with “The Nutty Professor,” and she went on to feature in films like “Kingdom Come,” a cameo in “Scream 2,” and two episodes of the very profitable and popular “The Matrix” series.
She earned an Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series in 2010 for her role as Christina Hawthorne in “Hawthorne,” which she played from 2009 to 2011. She first appeared as Fish Mooney in the television series “Gotham” in 2014. In the animated “Madagascar” film series, Jada Pinkett Smith played Gloria. Jada has been a part of the Facebook Watch series “Red Table Talk” since 2018.
Pinkett Smith has also worked as a singer and lyricist for the metal band Wicked Wisdom, under the stage name Jada Koren. In 2006, they published their self-titled first album. Wicked Wisdom was chosen as the opening act for Britney Spears’s Onyx Hotel in 2004. During the European leg of Spears’ tour in the spring of 2004, they opened for her for eight dates. In 2005, the band also performed at Ozzfest. She also runs 100 percent Women, a music production firm, and Maja, a clothing line. In 2004, Jada released “Girls Hold Up This World,” a children’s book. Pinkett Smith is also a spokeswoman for Carol’s Daughter cosmetics brand.
While visiting the set of Will Smith’s 1990s comedy “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Jada met her future husband, celebrity actor Will Smith. Jada auditioned for the role of Lisa Wilkes, his character’s girlfriend. Because Jada was deemed “too short” to portray the part, Nia Long was cast instead. Will and Jada started dating in 1995 (after he divorced Sheree Fletcher–Will had supposedly developed feelings for Jada before this but never pursued it) and married in 1997. Will and Jada Smith have two children, Jaden Smith and Willow Smith, who have both achieved success in the entertainment sector. Trey Smith, Will’s kid from a previous marriage, has Jada as his stepmother.
While she and Will were split in 2016, Jada claimed to be in a sexual connection with musician August Alsina in July 2019.
Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation, which focuses on aiding adolescents and their families in urban areas, was founded by the Pinkett Smiths in 2005. In 2006, the organization received the David Angell Humanitarian Award. Over the years, the family and the Foundation have donated to a variety of charities and causes. The Smiths gave $2,000 to the Hollywood Education and Literacy Program, which is Scientology’s premise for homeschooling, despite not being members of the Church.
Purchasing Real Estate
Will and Jada have a total of ten properties around the United States. Here’s a list of their most well-known current and previous properties:
Will and Jada paid $7.5 million in 1999 to buy a beautiful 100-acre estate in the hills between Malibu and Calabasas, California. They purchased other adjoining lots over the next year to create 150 acres of continuous land. A 20,000-square-foot main house, multiple guest homes, a private lake, a horse riding ring, equestrian paths, stables, tennis courts, and other amenities can be found on the site.
After falling in love with actor Gene Hackman’s Santa Fe house, they decided to create the property in the same manner. They recruited Hackman’s Santa Fe architect for the project, which took years to get off the ground owing to environmental concerns and permission limitations. They privately marketed the home for $42 million in 2013 but were unable to find a buyer. This property alone is probably worth $50–$70 million now.
Will and Jada sold their 7-acre oceanfront property on the island of Kauai for $12 million in 2017. They paid $10 million for the multi-family property in 2015. In 2011, they sold a 7-acre oceanfront Hawaiian property to Ekaterina Rybolovlev, the daughter of Russian businessman Dmitry Rybolovlev, for $20 million.
In addition, they own a 9,000-square-foot property in Hidden Hills, California, and a 9,200-square-foot ski lodge in Park City, Utah.
Will and Jada spent just over $11 million for a 10,400-square-foot property in Hidden Hills, California, in September 2021.
