Chad Ochocinco Johnson Net Worth – $15 Million

Chad Ochocinco Johnson has a net worth of $15 million. He is a former professional American football wide receiver and reality celebrity. He was a member of the Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots, and Miami Dolphins in the National Football League (NFL) for 11 seasons.

Chad made well about $47 million in NFL salary alone over the course of his career. Chad reported his entire assets as $5 million during a 2013 court dispute for child support. He said he was losing roughly $45,000 per month at the time to finance child support, mortgages, food, and vehicle payments for his eight children. He claimed to make $3,000 per month, or $36,000 per year, at the time of the filing.

Chad claimed to be worth considerably more than $5 million during a November 2021 visit on the “Full Send” podcast. He even showed that he had a bank account with $15 million in it.

College Career and Early Life

On January 9, 1978, Chad Javon Johnson was born in Miami, Florida. In 1997, he graduated from Miami Beach Senior High School and headed to Langston University, where he did not play football. He went on to play football at Santa Monica College in California. After being recruited by OSU football coach Dennis Erickson, he eventually moved to Oregon State University in 2000.

Football Career as a Professional

Johnson debuted in the NFL in 2001, when the Cincinnati Bengals selected him with the 36th overall choice in the second round of the draught. In his early seasons, he was a standout performer, establishing a Bengals team record with 1,432 yards in 2005. His on-field accomplishments, however, were sometimes eclipsed by what many saw as his “diva-like” demeanor. Everyone was affected by his proclivity for boasting and his contempt for authority. Despite being nominated to the Pro Bowl six times, the Bengals let Johnson depart in 2010 for the team’s health.

In a trade with the Cincinnati Bengals in July 2011, he was hired by the New England Patriots, although he only lasted a year before being released. In June 2012, he was signed by the Miami Dolphins, but he was dismissed in August of the same year after being arrested for domestic assault against his reality star wife Evelyn Lozada.

Johnson signed a two-year contract with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL) in 2014, however, he only played in five regular-season games. He was suspended for the entire 2015 CFL season and was not given a new contract after failing to attend the obligatory spring training camp. Since then, he has only played one game in the Liga de Futbol Americano Professional de Mexico, with the Monterrey Fundidores. In Monterrey’s victory over the Saltillo Dinos on April 2, he caught three passes.

Rebranding

Johnson declared that he would want to be called “Ocho Cinco,” which means “eight five” in Spanish, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. His jersey number, 85, inspired the moniker. On August 29, 2008, he legally changed his name to Chad Javon Ochocinco and was authorized to wear it on the back of his jersey by the Cincinnati Bengals. However, in order to meet his contractual commitments with Reebok, he maintained the name “Johnson” on his shirt for the 2008 football season. As a result, in the 2009 season, he unveiled his new “Ochocinco” jersey. In 2012, he formally reverted to Johnson as his last name.

Projects and Goals that I’m Working on

Johnson has a diverse range of interests outside of the NFL. He co-designed “Mad Chad,” an iPhone game, with RockLive in 2010. He was teamed with two-time winner Cheryl Burke on season ten of the famous competition show “Dancing with the Stars” that same year. Before being ousted from the contest, he advanced to the final four participants. On VH1, he also appeared in “Ochocinco: The Ultimate Catch,” a reality dating show. He also appeared on the game cover and delivered lessons alongside Clinton Portis and Byron Leftwich in EA’s 2006 video game “NFL Street 3,” where he donated his voice and visage.

Life in General

In early 2010, he started dating Evelyn Lozada, and in November of the same year, he proposed to her. In July 2012, they married. The Miami Dolphins terminated Johnson after he was arrested on August 11, 2012, for domestic assault. Lozada filed for divorce three days later, and it was formalized in September of the same year. He agreed to a plea agreement that included a year of probation, but in May 2013, a warrant for his arrest was issued for allegedly breaking his probation terms. He handed himself up and was sentenced to thirty days in prison, although he only served seven of them before being freed after apologizing to the court.
