She became The Economic Club of Chicago’s first African-American female president in 2017. She was also named chair of the Starbucks board of directors in 2021, making her one of the most well-known corporate directors.

Personal life

After meeting at a business convention in 2006, Hobson began dating movie director and producer George Lucas. Hobson and Lucas married on June 22, 2013, at Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch, after announcing their engagement in January 2013. Everest Hobson Lucas, their daughter, was born to them via surrogacy in August 2013.
