The reason for Ryan Coogler’s detainment
Police documents have been the basis for the initial news reports from TMZ. Those who spoke to the media claimed that Ryan was detained after he went to the bank to make transactions. In addition to the mask, he wore sunglasses and a hat. A note was reportedly written on the back of his withdrawal slip when he presented it to the cashier.
“I would like to withdraw $12,000 cash from my checking account. Please do the money count somewhere else. I’d like to be discreet.”
There was an alarm going off because of the transaction amount, which the teller took to be an attempt at robbery. Police were contacted after a teller alerted her superiors of the situation. Even though it hasn’t been substantiated, the police report said that the teller was a pregnant Black lady.
As soon as they came, they reportedly detained two persons in an SUV who had been waiting for actor Ryan Coogler outside the bank and handcuffed him. Coogler received an apology from a Bank of America representative.
