Meta To Open Its First Retail Store In US - Latest Update

If Meta wants to see greater adoption of the metaverse, it must first get more people into virtual reality headsets. Today, the company announced the launch of a new Meta Store, which will help them achieve that goal.

Meta is opening its first retail store on its campus in Burlingame, California, to make it simpler for potential consumers to try out the Quest 2 and other goods.

Users will be able to try out the company’s items in person and interact with them through interactive demos at the company’s new Meta Store. At the same time, Meta has added a new Shop tab to its website, making it easier to shop for Portal, Ray-Ban Stories, and Quest all in one location.

Martin Gilliard, the head of Meta Store, highlighted in a news release how Meta’s new store will assist people become more comfortable with the concept of the metaverse as well as allowing them to interact with its items in person, saying:

“The Meta Store is going to help people make that connection to how our products can be the gateway to the metaverse in the future. We’re not selling the metaverse in our store, but hopefully people will come in and walk out knowing a little bit more about how our products will help connect them to it.”

About Meta Store

The Meta Shop has a small size of around 1,550 square feet, especially when compared to Apple’s flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York, which is a huge 77k square feet.

One of the reasons the business chose a smaller site for its first store is that it is close to Reality Labs’ headquarters, where the metaverse is currently being constructed.

Customers will be able to try on Ray-Ban Stories and even make a video call to one of Meta’s store employees using Portal to witness Smart Camera in action and play around with features like Story Time once they enter the Meta Store.

Customers will, however, receive a 30-second mixed reality clip of their demo experience, which they may share on social media.
