Dale Cheney started the private investment fund T-street Capital in Darien, Connecticut, in 2013. Before starting his own business, he was an investment principal at Citicorp Venture Capital from 2007 to 2009. Before that, from 2005 to 2007, he worked at Goldman Sachs as an investment banking associate. Cheney got his Master’s degree in Business Administration from Harvard University. He was also on the board of directors and invested in six different companies in four states.
At 6:30 p.m. on January 25, 2023, he jumped to his death from Bar 54 at the Hyatt Centric Times Square New York on West 45th Street near Seventh Avenue. The death, which is being investigated as a possible suicide, happened just one day after he asked his wife Lauren Cheney for a divorce.

One of the disagreements was about money. Documents show that Cheney lived in New Canaan, Connecticut, in a huge apartment with six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. The 8100-square-foot home is worth more than $3.8 million, according to its Zillow profile.

How Did Dale Cheney Die?
On Thursday, a reporter from The Post went to his fancy address. They found sports equipment everywhere and a Jeep Grand Cherokee in the driveway. Researchers are looking into the possibility that Cheney killed himself. When the reporter knocked on the door, an unknown woman told him that 44-year-old Lauren was not there. According to the police, the couple has three children in their late teens and early 20s.
On Thursday, the man died after falling from a Manhattan rooftop bar. Two people at the rooftop bar told police that the man jumped off the building right after he fell and died, according to sources. One woman called 911 to say that she heard a loud noise.

Chris Piralta, who was working across the street at the time, told The Post on Thursday, “It was like a little bump, boom.” Nino Rodriguez, who works in the parking lot, says he heard a “big crack.” “Everyone was terrified. Someone came through here and told me that someone had jumped. He said of her, “She had big eyes…” “It’s a disaster,” he said. A hotel worker said, “That’s too bad,” and then stopped talking.
Tom Blundell, general manager of the Hyatt Centric Times Square, said in a statement, “We are truly heartbroken by what happened tonight outside our rooftop bar. We’re thinking about and caring about the victim’s family and friends.”
