Maxwell proposes to Fran a few times throughout the series, but always with ulterior motives. He constantly feels horrible about it, except in Season 5 Episode 12 when he proposes and poops as she realizes he’s just asking her because he felt bad about blabbering about her online cosmetic dreams—thus the concept was stolen, and he betrayed her confidence.’ He goes on to say that he wasn’t relieved when she said “No” for the first time.
In Season 5 Episodes 14, Maxwell Tells Fran That He Loves Her And Does Not Back Down
Maxwell and Fran‘s love rivalry lasts until the middle of the fifth season when the couple gets engaged; despite a few mishaps, they are married in the season five finale. Up until that point, they addressed each other as “Miss Fine” and “Mr. Sheffield,” respectively, as per customary employer-employee etiquette.
In the fifth season, Mr. Sheffield and Miss Fine embark on a tentative romantic relationship, which involves a crucial milestone: addressing each other by their first names. Mr. Sheffield proposes marriage, and they marry in the season 5 finale (which sends C. C. Babcock to a mental institution due to his obsessive obsession with Maxwell and loathing of Fran).
They have fraternal twins Jonah and Eve in the series finale. The first child, Jonah, was named after Fran’s family, however, he was quieter than his father, and Eve, who arrived a few minutes later, was croaky and boisterous, just like her mother.

Despite the fact that they stopped using one other’s last names when they married, Fran and Max would still switch to their boss/employee roles out of habit.
Max will reflexively cry “Miss Fine!” when he is displeased with her, causing Fran to exclaim, “Oh no, Miss Fine!” In the meantime, Fran refers to Maxwell in bed as “Mr. Sheffield.” Fran had a few ideas about them kissing before they tied the knot.
Miss Fine, the Jewish nanny from Flushing, Queens, had elegance, flare, and presence, and she and her nasal giggle were a nightly presence in millions of homes throughout the world in the 1990s. However, the denouement of the hugely famous television shows The Nanny, which aired from 1989 to 1999, was not what star Fran Drescher had envisioned.
In fact, the 63-year-old actress claims she would have preferred to keep the sexual tension between Fran Fine and Maxwell Sheffield alive rather than have them marry, a decision she claims was foisted on the show by the studio’s producers.
Their Relationship’s Chemistry
“I would have written a beautiful season finale, but not changed the chemistry of the relationship [between Fran and Maxwell],” she said in a recent interview with news.com.au. “So the show would have ended with her as the kids’ nanny and him as her boss, but the two of them having an affair that never happened.

To be honest, I would have loved the show to conclude differently. The network was adamant about getting [Fran and Maxwell] married in order to squeeze one last season out of it and boost ratings. “We didn’t make the decision.”
Her point of view is as surprising as the fact that fans tune in season every season to see how this love story concludes. We waited for CC Babcock to go into Mr. Sheffield’s office just as he was about to kiss Miss Fine. Mr. Sheffield evaluated and envied Miss Fine as she went on many dates with totally unsuitable men, and we waited.
There was flirting, there were near-misses, and we waited six seasons for these two to get together. When they did, the crowd burst into cheers, and in today’s social media world, their wedding would have been just as much of a must-see as Meghan and Harry’s.
Daniel Davis, who played Niles, remarked, “To tell you the truth, that’s the only role I never really bought.” “I didn’t imagine we’d end up married because we were such oil and water.” But I couldn’t help myself and had to play it because that’s what they’d written… I don’t think I’ve ever spoken something like that to anyone!”
In the United States, all six seasons of The Nanny will be available to stream on HBO Max beginning April 1.
