He attended Jesuit High School and then went on to Florida State University, where he majored in English and joined the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.
During his sixth year at college, the university was ranked the number one party school in the United States by “The Princeton Review,” and Kreischer was declared the top partyer at the Number One Party School in the country by Rolling Stone magazine.
An article about him entitled “Bert Kreischer: The Undergraduate” was published in the magazine. Oliver Stone optioned the rights to his story, but the deal fell through, and a writer changed Kreischer’s name to “Van Wilder” and sold it to National Lampoon, which released “National Lampoon’s Van Wilder” in 2002, starring Ryan Reynolds in the lead role. Bert Kreischer himself never saw the movie and had nothing to do with it.
