How did Dave Hollis Die?
Dave Hollis, who was a writer and the former head of Disney’s international distribution, has died. He was 47. A member of Hollis’s family said that he died peacefully on Saturday night at his home outside of Austin, Texas.
His family said that he had recently been taken to the hospital for heart problems, but no other information was given about his death. After Chuck Viane announced his retirement from Disney’s theatrical distribution in 2011, Hollis took over the job.
During his time there, Hollis directed some of the studio’s biggest hits to date, including movies from Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, and Pixar, as well as live-action versions of classic animated movies and original animated projects.
Hollis left the company suddenly in 2018 after leading it through a time of great success. Rachel Hollis, Hollis’s ex-wife, and a well-liked industry professional and charming Disney representative, started the production company Chic Media in Texas, and Hollis left the studio to take the helm there (and in California). The couple started living apart recently.
Brendon Burchard Paid Tribute To Dave Hollis Following His Death
On his official Facebook page, well-known motivational speaker Brendon Burchard wrote a touching tribute to his friend and colleague Dave Hollis, who died suddenly.
I’m sorry to tell you this, but it’s horrible. This past weekend, we lost Dave Hollis. His parents said this in a statement that was put online:
“Dave Hollis, who used to be Disney’s President of Worldwide Distribution, died peacefully at his home near Austin, Texas, on Saturday night. Even though the exact cause of death hasn’t been found yet, his family says he had recently been hospitalized for heart problems. He was 47.”
Dave was a great guy who loved his family, his students, and his friends very much. We were together for a lot of hours. I was moved by his kindness, sensitivity, energy, enthusiasm, honesty when talking about his problems, love for his children, and commitment to helping others.
During the year we worked together as teachers, I can’t tell you how many times the depth and wisdom of what he shared moved me and our students to tears. I liked our funny conversations, the way he taught, and the many belly’s laughs and ambitious plans we came up with together. Last month, when I went to see him in the hospital, I found out he had heart problems.
When he was freed, my friends and I could tell him how much we liked him. He had no doubt that everyone loved him. It looks like the heart problems kept happening.
