Born in Dallas, Texas, on February 25, 1988, Christian Ponder played college football at Florida State University. He was an impressive college quarterback, which resulted in him being selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2011 NFL Draft as the 12th overall pick. He spent four seasons with the Vikings before joining the Oakland Raiders in March 2015. Later that year, in November, he signed for the Denver Broncos. In 2016, he played for the San Francisco 49ers before retiring from football.

Ponder’s true freshman season at Florida State was in 2006, which he sat out due to redshirt status. In 2007, he served as a backup quarterback behind Drew Weatherford. In his second game of the season, he played against Virginia Tech, where he completed eight out of 18 passing attempts for 105 yards and one touchdown, even though Florida State lost 40-21.
