After more than two years of dating, the Transformers actor, 49, and former Miss World America revealed their engagement on Saturday, Mari’s 28th birthday.
“It’s on!! Yes!! @audramari, she discovered a message in a bottle washed up on the beach.” “Audra Diane Mari Will You Marry Me?” Duhamel captioned a photo of the couple beaming while holding up a handmade letter.
“My heart is so joyful… I love you @joshduhamel,” Mari captioned the same photo on her Instagram account.
Duhamel and Mari have been dating since 2019. A source told PEOPLE in December of that year that the actor was “very happy” with Mari, whom he’d been dating “seven or eight months” before.
An onlooker told PEOPLE at the time that Duhamel and the model “were essentially together all night” during a holiday party the two attended together earlier that month.

In February 2020, the couple was photographed holding hands in Los Angeles, and in May of last year, they were photographed on a date night at celebrity-favorite Japanese restaurant Nobu.
While the December 2019 bash was not the first time Duhamel and Mari were seen together, it did occur just two weeks after Duhamel’s divorce from ex-wife Fergie was finalised.
Fergie and Duhamel, who were married for eight years and have an eight-year-old son named Axl Jack, announced their breakup in September 2017 in a joint statement obtained by PEOPLE. In late May 2019, the former Black Eyed Peas singer, 46, filed for divorce.
“We decided to separate as a couple earlier this year with absolute love and respect,” they declared in a 2017 statement. “We wanted to keep this a private affair before discussing it with the world to give our family the best chance to adjust.”
In the comment section of her ex’s Saturday post announcing their engagement, the “Fergalicious” singer congratulated Duhamel and Mari, saying, “Congrats!!!.”
