He went to Florida State to play football in college. The Minnesota Vikings took him with the 12th pick in the NFL Draft in 2011.
During his time with the Vikings, Ponder had both good and bad times. In 2012, he started all 16 games and helped the team get to the playoffs. But he got hurt a lot and didn’t play consistently, so in 2014 he was replaced by rookie Teddy Bridgewater. He played for the Vikings for four years and had a record of 14-21-1.
