Season 11 of Call the Midwife ended on May 8 with a suspenseful episode that left viewers guessing about the fates of two beloved characters. Fortunately, everything worked out in the end, and the episode concluded with everyone gathering at Nonnatus House for a well-deserved celebration following a trying period.
The episode’s last minutes had the feel of a series finale, but viewers shouldn’t be concerned that Sister Julienne, Nurse Corrigan, and the other nuns and midwives had seen their last appearance. Seasons 12 and 13 of Call the Midwife have been confirmed to air.
Seasons 12 and 13 of “Call the Midwife” will air.
Call the Midwife has been on the air for over ten years and is still going strong. The BBC announced in April 2021 that the show, which airs in the United Kingdom, had been renewed for seasons 12 and 13.
“It’s an extraordinary gift to be able to reflect back on a decade of Call The Midwife while also knowing that our journey is far from over,” said creator Heidi Thomas in a statement. “We’re ecstatic to be able to continue for another few years!” We have a proud history, but an even more exciting future ahead of us, full of old favorites, new faces, higher hemlines, and new ideas, just like Nonnatus House. We adore all of the stories we tell, and we promise to give them our all.”
New episodes are currently being filmed in the United Kingdom.
Call the Midwife Season 12 is currently under production. The Turner family spending the holidays in the annual Christmas special was just released on the show’s official Twitter account. Helen George is back as Nurse Trixie Franklin, according to another post. Because she was on maternity leave, George was absent from the last episodes of season 11.
” Helen is ready to get back on her bike and minister to the Poplar women!” according to a Facebook post on the show’s official page. “We’re ecstatic to have her back, and we can’t wait to share the next chapter of Trixie’s story with you.”
The Christmas special for Call the Midwife in 2022 will premiere later this year. (In both the US and the UK, it usually airs on Christmas Day.) In 2023, the BBC will broadcast Season 12. There is no confirmed air date in the United States.
Actress Ella Bruccoleri of “Call the Midwife” believes the series can “continue on and on.”
Call the Midwife has been on the air for a decade, and at least two of the cast members believe it will be renewed for another decade.
Sister Frances’ actress Ella Bruccoleri spoke with Radio Times recently about the show.
“As an actor, it’s the type of show you could remain with,” she remarked. “I have a feeling it’ll go on forever… If it didn’t, there’d be a huge uproar.”
Nurse Nancy Corrigan’s co-star Megan Cusack agreed.
She stated, “People adore it.” “I love it. Everyone in it is excellent. Everyone in the staff, production, and behind-the-scenes is incredible… That keeps people interested, and it keeps shows running.”
“People stick together when they want to,” she continued. “That is what makes the show so amazing. So… Years could pass.”
