Sanditon Season 2 Episode 6 - Everything You Need To Know in 2022

With repeated airings on PBS’ “Masterpiece Theater” and the streaming site BritBox, the gripping British period drama “Sanditon” has attracted a number of American fans. The ITV series follows young Charlotte Heywood (Rose Williams) as she visits the namesake British seaside town during the Regency period, based on an unfinished work by Jane Austen of the same name. She is quickly drawn to the town’s closed-off, secretive residents.

Charlotte’s interest in these folks’ lives puts her own life in jeopardy. She gets into a fight with the guy whose family brought her to the town following a carriage accident, attractive but wild Sidney Parker (Theo James), after she insults the Parker family as a whole, notably his entrepreneur brother, Tom (Kris Marshall), who founded Sanditon itself.

After ITV canceled “Sanditon” in 2019, PBS stated on May 6 that it will produce the show for two more seasons (via Radio Times). When can you expect to see it, who will be in it, and what will it be about?

When will Sanditon’s second season be available?

According to a press statement from PBS, filming for the second season will begin later this year in and around Bristol (UK), although no launch date has been set. Given how long such productions typically take – between the time required to create the show’s lush period outfits, cast, script, and film episodes – new episodes of “Sanditon” are unlikely to air until the second quarter of 2022, assuming all goes well and no Covid-19-related delays are imposed on the production company. By late spring or early summer of 2022, expect to see more of the performance.

In the US and Canada, PBS will continue to broadcast and stream the series. The performance will be broadcast in 176 countries around the world by BBC International. In the United Kingdom, BritBox will broadcast the series. Despite canceling the show, ITV has “bought” the second and third seasons of “Sanditon,” which will air once the BritBox launch window has closed.

In the second season of Sanditon, who will play the main characters?

Theo James will not return as Sidney Parker for the show’s second season, according to PBS. According to the press release, Sidney’s character will be killed off, and the role will not be recast, but Charlotte will continue to have “an abundance of romance and adventure” in future seasons.

“Despite how much I enjoyed playing Sidney, I’ve always believed that his story ended exactly how I wanted it to. The shattered fairy-tale-like conclusion between Charlotte and Sidney intrigues me, and I wish the actors and crew of ‘Sanditon’ the best of luck with future seasons “In a press release from PBS, James said: Additional casting will be announced in the future, according to the press release.

This puts series producers in a tricky situation, especially when show executives, such as producer Belinda Campbell, hinted that Sidney and Charlotte will end up together by the show’s conclusion in a 2019 Vulture interview. Rose Williams has confirmed that she will reprise her role as Charlotte Heywood, the drama’s core character, on Twitter, but the rest of the cast is still up in the air.

In the PBS news release, executive producer Susanne Simpson promised romance, laughter, and “lots of twists and turns,” but all fans appear to want is a satisfying happy ending for Charlotte – and for many of them, that meant her getting romantically involved with Sidney. Unless a last-minute miracle or a recast brings Sidney back to Sanditon, it will be up to the producers to change their minds.
