In 1966, Dionne Warwick married actor and drummer William David Elliott. They broke up in May of the following year. Then, in August of 1967, they got back together and got married again in Milan, Italy. Warwick has said in several interviews, “I couldn’t live with or without him, so I married him again.”
On January 18, 1969, in East Orange, New Jersey, Warwick gave birth to her first son, David Elliott. Damon Elliott, her second son, was born in 1973.

Elliott, Warwick’s husband, died on September 30, 1983. He had turned 49.

Dionne Warwick looks back on her marriage and says, “I married him, wanted a divorce, and married again. Need it to survive. It was easy. I had feelings for him.
