According to the Chicago Tribune, there were complications during John Wayne Gacy’s execution. The flow of the second drug used to execute him momentarily stopped, reportedly due to a mistake made by the prison official administering the drugs. What Happened To John Wayne Gacy And How Did He Die?

John Wayne Gacy, a notorious serial killer, buried the majority of his victims in the crawl space of his home located in the peaceful suburbs of Chicago. He preyed on both acquaintances and random individuals, luring them with promises of employment, drinks, or sex. Once inside his home, he would ply his victims with drugs or alcohol before performing a trick using a pair of handcuffs. Gacy would then restrain and torture them before ultimately strangling them with a rope.

The police began to investigate Gacy after 15-year-old Robert Piest, a pharmacy worker, went missing. A co-worker had seen Piest talking to Gacy outside the shop, and he never returned. Upon searching Gacy’s home, officers found police badges, a starter pistol, bottles of valium and atropine, and small underwear. During a subsequent interview, Gacy confessed to his lawyer that he had killed around 30 people and that Piest was among his victims.

Even fifty years later, scientists are still working to identify all of Gacy’s victims through DNA profiling. In March 1980, Gacy was found guilty of 33 murder charges and sentenced to death. However, he remained on death row for 14 years, making numerous appeals.
