On May 12, 1966, Stephen Baldwin was born in Massapequa, New York. When he was born, his name was Stephen Andrew Baldwin. Baldwin sued Kevin Costner for $3.8 million in 2010 because Costner’s Nevada Corporation had come up with a way to separate oil from water (CINC). Stephen says that he and Costner had agreed that Baldwin and his friend Spyridon Contogouris would sell the technology to BP after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Kevin met with BP, but Baldwin and Contogouris weren’t there. Stephen said that Costner bought out Baldwin and Contogouris with the $18 million down payment that BP agreed to at that meeting. Baldwin and Contogouris had to sell their business shares worth $2 million right before BP bought the CINC technology for $52 million. A jury ruled in Costner’s favor in June 2012.

Baldwin’s first part was in a 1987 episode of the PBS show “American Playhouse.” He had guest roles on “Family Ties” and in the movies “Homeboy” and “The Beast” the following year. In 1989, he took on the lead role in the western TV show “The Young Riders,” which he did for three seasons and 67 episodes.
